Construction is now complete on Horton Avenue which parallels the south side of Interstate 70 and links exit 53 with exit 54. Please see aerial photograph taken earlier this summer.
This addition provides an additional access to and from The Oasis Travel Center located at the west end of Horton Avenue. It also provides needed commercial and industrial development sites on both sides of Horton Avenue.
Although several of these sites have been sold, Truck Town has been the first to break ground in these newly developed building sites.
Willow Avenue, paralleling the north side of Interstate 70 has long been in existence and served as a primary route from exit 53 and 54 to The Prairie Museum of Art and History and Bourquin’s KOA Campgrounds. Construction of a new Wal-Mart Super Store at the corner of Willow and Franklin created the need to widen and improve this section of road.
Both projects have required significant public investment but have already resulted in large scale private development. This investment paves the way for bright future for this region. Thomas County Economic Development Alliance commends the Colby City Council and Staff for their foresight.
